This function is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and upgrading an integrated set of management tools for automating, controlling, and monitoring the mainframe software development lifecycle. At our client they use ChangeMan ZMF from Microfocus.

ChangeMan is used to maintain software applications and track their versions to support the build and deployment of projects on time, cost, and specification.

Your challenges:

  • Supports project teams by providing guidance in the development and implementation of complex projects and resolving service requests within agreed SLAs.
  • Regularly reviews team change/configuration management control processes, tools, and procedures to streamline and facilitate overall improvement to service delivery. Analyses processes and contributes to recommendations for improvements or new models as appropriate.
  • Change/Configuration activities include activities to build software release, run launch control process, (LCP), as well as perform change reviews.
  • Responsible for the requirements definition and the acceptance of tools (improvements) that support and automate processes for application/software product change, configuration, and release management.
  • Makes sure that change and configuration management activities always keep the software configuration management repositories consistent.
  • Incumbents will also work with QA, Legal & Compliance, and project configuration management teams.

Your profile

Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Mainframe environment
  • Good experience with the IBM z/OS utilities and software: ISPF, DB2, CICS, SDSF, JCL, VSAM, Scheduling software (CA7)
  • Skills in ISPF application programming
  • Skills in one of the following languages: Cobol, Assembler, REXX,…
  • Minimum 5 years working experience with Changeman (as an administrator or advanced user)
  • Strong skills writing and maintaining Cobol and PL1 compiler and link editor.
  • Experience coding and supporting applications written in computer language (PL1, Cobol, Assembler, C)
  • Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting help to developers.
  • RACF knowledge

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Software Configuration Management (SCM) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Administration of Changeman including metadata management
  • Knowledge with Changeman customization (HLLX)
  • Knowledge of tools for mainframe modernization such as IDE (VS Code, Eclipse, Git, ... etc.) appreciated.
  • Knowledge of batch processing
  • MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Experience using a Service Desk (ServiceNow)
  • Agile knowledge (Scrum and Kanban) and Azure DevOps Server
